Yield Modeling

So you like both math & data?

Then you just might be ready to combine them!

It's time for yield modeling

What is yield modeling?

You sure you want to know?

Not many people have yield modeled...

Still want more?

Yield modeling in a nutshell:

2 main types, IC and hybrid.

IC yield

IC Yield Models

IC yield modeling

Use one of these formulas to predict your yield. Which one? That's for you to decide!

That's it?

Yeah, basically. A is Area and D is Defect density. As area in increases, you always have more defect opportunities, so you have to drive D down to maintain same yield. Notice all these models are stochastic and are basically just penalty functions that penalize increasing AD in different ways. Inceasing AD is always bad for yield. You would have to pick the best model to fit your data. But, it doesn't mean very much. Say the Seeds model is the best fit. That means just that, nothing more....

Nothing more?

Well, there is hybrid yield modeling
