Domicile

Pipe leaking under lawn?

Not good!! You might have a leaky interface if your homebuilder was trying to save a few bucks.

Copper -> PVC -> Copper = 2 interfaces = Big trouble!

Solution: Have landscapers dig trench - notice intact irrigation PVC. Plumbers ditchwitch and then repair after. Then, have plumbers lay PEX. Cheaper than copper and just as durable. And, no pesky interfaces under lawn!!!

Food

Uunifetapasta?

Don't act like you've never heard of it!! This Finnish sensation is on its third wave... Don't forget the chilis! Now that you know that it can be made in the Ninja Foodi Grill, what's your excuse?

Living off the land

Cherry tomatoes

Tomatoes are surprisingly hard to grow in Phoenix. Almost every other fruit and vegetable can and has been grown here commercially. But, tomato plants won't pollinate above 90 degrees. Tall order in the desert!!

This means that you're going to end up with some green tomatoes since they won't ripen above said 90 degree temp. Don't fret though. Put them in a paper bag with a banana and wait a few days.  You can also pickle green tomatoes, so there's no real reason not to grow them.

Grapefruit farming

Home grown citrus

Don't throw out the rinds!!  Dehydrate them and put them into tea/coffee. Or, soak in vinegar for cleaning. You can even make the rinds into candy!

Boil rinds twice, then boil again in sugar water. Allow to reduce, then toss in a mix of sugar and citric acid powder.

Not just about tomatoes

Peppers and herbs

Peppers have been pretty tricky. In fact, I've only grown 2. But, look at the basil and dill!

Trail braking: Set brake pressure at braking distance. Turn at turn-in point looking towards apex. Trail off brake during turn to keep weight on front. Be decisive with steering and always look ahead towards exit point.

Clouded out?

Totality is still impressive! And, let's give a shout-out to the scientists for predicting the eclipses so accurately... To the second!!!

There's not much to her, literally!

She's pretty much full grown now. She'll have to rely on quickness to make it in the NBA.
